Kane Hodder has signed on to play a major role in the potentially upcoming horror film ‘Before The Mask: The Return of Leslie Vernon’. Whether the film actually gets made depends on you, because it is a fully crowd funded project with an ambitious goal. Read on for the scoop!
In late 2004 a group of guys headed up to Portland, Oregon, to shoot their first film, ‘Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon’ on a budget of $262k. Throughout the following year, the film was edited and premiered in March 2006 in Austin Texas. The film went on to play in the festival circuit for a year, winning numerous awards, followed by a successful theatrical release through Anchor Bay and the DVD release after that.
The now planned ‘Before The Mask: The Return of Leslie Vernon’ is a sequel, prequel and remake of the above mentioned film, all rolled into one. Speaking about his involvement in the first film and his return in ‘Before The Mask: The Return of Leslie Vernon’, Kane made this statement: “I was happy to be a part of the first film. Had no idea what, exactly, I was getting myself into. But, Robert (Englund) asked me to do a favor and show up in front of the Elm Street house for a cameo, so I did it. In retrospect, I’m so happy to have been a part of such an intelligent, clever Valentine to horror fans. I’ve been shouting the praises of Scott’s movie for several years now and I’m excited to be offered a more substantial role in the next one. It’s really important that we support indie horror and I can’t think of a bigger statement we’d all be making than getting this project fan-funded through Kickstarter. That would definitely send a message to Hollywood.”
With the scrip written, the makers seek funding through their Kickstarter campaign which is still open until August 9. Check it out for more info about the project right here.
