The makers of the pitch black horror fantasy comedy ‘Hank Boyd is Dead’ are giving away one hundred autographed DVDs to fans before the film’s official release this spring. And as if that’s not enough, director Sean Melia and the producers have unleashed an exclusive funny clip from the film we have inside for you. Is there a catch? Of course there is but we’re sure you don’t mind this one. Come on inside for details and the clip.
Written and directed by filmmaker Sean Melia, this tale of dysfunction and deceit has already won the award for Best Drama at the Atlanta Horror Film Festival. Bag of Cats Productions have announced their award-winning horror comedy will be released this spring and will be available for rental and purchase online.
“I started with the idea of examining what it would be like to be part of the family of a killer on the level of Dahmer or Bundy,” writer and director Sean Melia explains, “and after their execution, who would be left to grieve and who would be blamed? But then I thought, what if he didn’t do it? What if it was his brother, and a woman hired to cater after the funeral found out? And from that came the psychopathic soap opera that is the Boyd family, an homage to all the clever, creepy stories that I grew up with and loved.”
The film was written to be made in a week, all the time Sean Melia could afford to take off, and was shot over eight days on a micro budget, utilizing every resource available. The director’s childhood home in Edison, New Jersey became the set and the cast was comprised largely of veteran NYC theater and television actors who had collaborated on several of Melia’s past projects. The end result is a smart, fast paced and twisted take on classic horror tropes.
The ensemble cast give performances that strike the perfect balance between absurdity and satire. Starring Stefanie E. Frame (Sarah Walsh), David Christopher Wells (David Boyd), Liv Rooth (Aubrey Boyd), Carole Monferdini (Beverly Boyd), and Michael Hogan (Ray Moon), ‘Hank Boyd is Dead’ is produced by Sean Melia and Michael Hogan. Cinematography by Joseph White, Editing and Sound Design by Sean Melia, Visual Effects by Chase Gordon, Music by Chase Horseman, Audio Mix and Master by Rob Daly, and Calibration by Dustin Blowes.
Until the release, fans can enter a contest to win one of a hundred limited edition DVDs, all autographed by the director and cast. To enter the contest and get the latest updates, (here’s the catch) sign up at the film’s official website before May 1, 2016. All entries will be verified and the winners will be announced on May 15, 2016 via the film’s official website.
