‘Tormented Souls’ is one woman’s journey of treading the fine line between the psychological ‘lies of the mind’ and the possible unseen ‘realm of the paranormal’. It begs the question of which is more horrifying? The fact that evil spirits may actually exist, or discovering that you are lost on a downward spiral into the hellish world of insanity, from whence there is no return.
After witnessing the tragic death of her wealthy parents and the heartbreaking discovery of her fiancée’s secret infidelities, the last thing Amy Wisez (Kelly Sullivan) desired was a romantic reconciliation road-trip away with her unrepentant partner Robbie Ratcliffe (Corin Nemec).
Miles off the main interstate highway and lost in the dark backwoods roads of California, the quarrelling couple are suddenly forced to spend the night at an eerie honeymooner’s forest retreat run by the eccentrically religious Momma McDonald (Meg Foster) and her dysfunctional offspring Caine (Tim Trobec) and Mary Anne (Camryn Grimes).
Far too insecure and mentally unstable for her terrifying suspicions to be taken seriously, Amy faces the reality that either she is losing her mind, the holiday cabin she is staying in is severely haunted, or that its creepy caretakers are up to something far more sinister. Only time will tell.
‘Tormented Souls’ is written and directed by Aash Aaron and produced by Guardian Films with Dustin Gray producing and Corin Nemec co-producing. The release of ‘Tormented Souls’ is currently anticipated for 2013.
