Oz: The Great and Powerful – 2013

May we presenting the first official ‘Oz: The Great and Powerful’ teaser poster for Sam Raimi’s upcoming prequel to ‘The Wizard of Oz’. The poster, which has a years old storybook feel about it, with the mystical greys and blues gives us a glimpse as to the world that we’ll all be transported to in 2013. The poster, which depicts Sam’s interpretation of the Emerald city, Oz and the famous yellow brick road, and of course the infamous hot air baloon.

‘Oz the Great and Powerful’ takes us back to a time before Dorothy, before the yellow brick road and before the munchkins. Back to the time when the great and powerful wizard of Oz first arrived in the fantastic land of Oz.

When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with few ethics, is whisked away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he as hit the jackpot with fame and fortune being his for the taking. But unfortunately for Oscar, his luck is about to run out. He unwittingly runs into three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz), and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting.

Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity, and even a bit of wizardry, Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz, but into a better man as well.

Sam’s brother Ted Raimi is also on board with ‘Oz: The Great and Powerful’, playing the roles of the Sceptic and the Tinker. If you haven’t watched it yet, don’t miss our video interview with Ted Raimi at last year’s Weekend of Horrors in Germany!
