The first theatrical trailer has just arrived for the upcoming independent psychological horror thriller ‘Hylo’ which derives its title from the psychological disorder called Hylophobia, an irrational fear of wood, the forest or tress. Shot on a shoestring budget of just 4,000 US-Dollar, ‘Hylo’ is the second feature film from American filmmaker Carman Spoto, who directed and also co-wrote the script.
Laura Maters, a psychologist attempting to help a mentally ill patient, makes a bargain: She will look after his daughter, and he will stick to bed rest in order to rehabilitate himself. However when she begins to be followed by a mysterious man in a suit, she starts to question whether or not her patient’s phobias are in his head, or reality.
‘Hylo’ will premiere on July 22nd at the International House in Philadelphia. Tickets are available through the film’s official website. Plans for a worldwide release on DVD and VOD are in the making, as well as several screenings at festivals in North America and the UK.
