Taking a step out of the loop for some time, Phil Gardiner will be on production of a new feature length movie pilot with plans for release world-wide in theaters, as well as via cable, TV, VOD and DVD. Shot mainly in Nottinghamshire, England, at several locations above and below ground, “It’s definitely not what you’ll expect!” And Phil is right; we didn’t see that one coming. Not much has been revealed about the plot of ‘Exorcist Chronicles’. We do know that across the world, demonic possessions are on the increase. Two specialists are brought in and uncover a dark and terrifying worldwide plot. The film is designed to set nerves jangling and drag the dark terrors that are usually hidden and suppressed deep in the human psyche right up to the forefront of the mind to rattle the audience. The makers promise us a movie unlike anything we’ve encountered before.
It plays on many different levels of terror and will have the audiences not only checking the back seat of their cars for unwanted and undetected traveling companions, but will also convince them to check their passengers too.
The premise is simple, as the best stories are. There is an ancient evil abroad in the world again and those that have been charged to protect humankind are beyond worried. The frequency and intensity of demonic possessions is on the increase and men of God are struggling in their fight to overcome these terrors in the more conventional manner of exorcism. It would seem that prayer, crosses, holy water and a pure belief in God is no longer enough to defeat and banish the demons within. Something more powerful is needed; something that has never been utilized by the church before.
The time has come it would seem, to combine science with religion in order to take the final battle to this threat and so to defeat the malevolence that has returned from whence it was banished, millennia ago.
Can religion work hand in hand with science? For that matter, can science ever work alongside religion? This movie asks those questions and Director Philip Gardiner is the man to make it all come together to give the viewers a good enough reason to sleep with the light on again.
Coming in 2013, Exorcist Chronicles is a truly British horror film for all those who loved the ‘X Files’, ‘The Omen’ and tales with a twist.
