Folks around West Tennessee will be getting a taste of Hollywood towards the end of summer with the filming of the horror action-thriller ‘Demon Lake’. Independent film company, Dragon Eye Films, will be in the area shooting the feature late July through Mid-August with a mixed cast of seasoned Hollywood actors and up and coming local talent. ‘Demon Lake’ will be Gabrielle Lui’s directorial feature debut about one couple’s romantic honeymoon on the lakeside not going quite as they’ve planned.
‘Demon Lake’ is a beautifully horrible place in the country hills of Tennessee. Newlywed Nick thought it the perfect spot for his new bride, Emmi, and the two arrive to spend their honeymoon in a gorgeous home right on the lake. Emmi is overcome with emotion at the sight of the lake, just not exactly the kind of emotion Nick was hoping for.
“The newlywed’s relaxing and romantic setting is continually interrupted by less than friendly locals. They also discover that there is something odd about Demon Lake, as it seems to have a strange effect on people,” explains director and producer Gabrielle Lui. “From backwoods moonshine to dead bodies to colorful local characters, ‘Demon Lake’ is anything but the place for a peaceful honeymoon.”
The cast includes a wide range of actors and actresses with experience in film, television, commercials and theatrical production. Playing the role of ‘Nick’ is Sam Brittan, who is also one of the writers of the screenplay and serves as one of the film’s producers. His new bride ‘Emmi’ will be portrayed by Trisha LaFache, whose film credits include ‘Garden State’ and who has had roles on television shows such as ‘Mad Men’, ‘Criminal Minds’, ‘Greek’ and ‘Ghost Whisperer’.
‘Auggie’ will be played by Brendan McCarthy, known from her recurring roles in ‘True Blood’ and ‘Justified’. Robert Craighead, who has made a career of playing Rednecks, Psychos, Killers and Cops, has been cast in the role of ‘Moonshine Jack’. ‘Sheriff Bo’ will be portrayed by Jim Storm, a seasoned actor whose credits include soap operas like ‘One Life to Live’, ‘The Young and the Restless’ and ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’.
Annika Noelle (‘Sweethearts’, ‘Found’ and ‘Love’s Christmas Journey’) will play ‘Debbie’ and local star Becky Fly (The Help and The Last Exorcist) has been cast as ‘Sarah’. Portraying ‘Matt’ is singer, actor and producer Bertie Higgins, who is well known for his hit song “Key Largo”. Andrew Varenhorst, who has appeared in numerous commercials and theatrical productions, will play the part of ‘T-Bone.’
